Great Horned Owlet: We have heard Great Horned Owls for years. In 2008 we were out on a winter evening walk when we were lucky enough to see a Great Horned hooting in a tall hemlock. Right next to our road! There was a nest like structure in the tree so we returned frequently with binoculars. We had just about given up on the possibility that this was an active nest when I found myself eyeball to eyeball with this shy owlet.
